Introduction to Sea Kayaking

Introduction to Kayaking introduces the novice to paddling a kayak in calm sheltered water. Rescue techniques at this level incorporate the use of a paddling partner and it is essential for all Introduction to Kayaking certified paddlers to travel on the water with others who have been trained in the techniques of  assisted rescues.

Prerequisites: No prior Kayak experience needed

Cost: $90/person not including equipment (call if equipment is needed) + HST


Sea Kayak Level 1

Level-1 provides the skill and knowledge necessary for day-long sea kayaking trips in sheltered waters (non-wilderness areas). Successful completion of Level-1 indicates competence to paddle a sea kayak within a sheltered bay in the company of one or more paddlers with Level-1 or greater skill and knowledge.

Duration: 2-day

Dates: Aug 11-12, 2012 @ Lily Lake in Rockwood Park, Saint John, NB

Prerequisites: Intro Course or Prior Experience

Cost: $225/person not including equipment (call if equipment is needed)+ HST


Sea Kayak Level 2

To provide the skills and knowledge for proficient kayaking in moderate conditions, on overnight trips along a moderately exposed shore with frequent easy landing opportunities.

Duration: 4+ days plus overnight

Dates: Course #1 Weekend 1 = evening June 22, all day June 23 & 24 @ Lily Lake in Rockwood Park, Saint John, NB plus

            Course #1 Weekend 2 = July 14-15 in the Fundy Isles

           

            Course #2 Weekend 1 = evening Aug @ Lily Lake in Rockwood Park, Saint John, NB plus

            Course #2 Weekend 2 = Sept in the Fundy Isles

 

Prerequisites: Paddle Canada Level-1 Skills certification or equivalent skill and knowledge.

Cost: $650/person not including equipment or meals (call if equipment is needed)  + HST


Sea Kayak Intro Instructor

To provide a national certification in the instruction and administration of the Paddle Canada Introduction to Kayaking Sea Kayaking Skills course.

Duration: 2+ days

Dates: July, 2012 @ Lily Lake in Rockwood Park, Saint John, NB

Prerequisites: Paddle Canada Level 1 Skill, First Aid/CPR

Cost: $255/person not including equipment (call if equipment is needed) + HST 


Sea Kayak Level 1 Instructor

To provide a national certification in the instruction and administration of the Paddle Canada Level-1 Sea Kayaking Skills course.

Duration: 4+ days

Dates:

Prerequisites: Paddle Canada Level 2 Skill, First Aid/CPR, must be at least 18 years old, 30+ days paddling

Cost: $325/person not including equipment (call if equipment is needed) + HST
